A trapezoid is a quadrilateral that has one pair of parallel sides.
- The parallel sides are called bases.
- The nonparallel sides are called legs. The base angles
- Each lower base angle is supplementary to the upper base angle on the same side.
- If the legs of a trapezoid are congruent then it is an isosceles trapezoid.
Key things to remember

You can find the midsegment by adding the bases and dividing it by 2.
To identify a trapezoid as a quadrilateral, find the slope of both bases.
To identify a trapezoid as a quadrilateral, find the slope of both bases.
- Midsegment=(base1 + base2)/2
- If on a coordinate plane find the midpoint of both legs. Then use the distance formula to find the midsegment.
